Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace

In 2021, the unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities was double that of the rate for those without disabilities. This statistic does not represent a new high or trend. Barriers to competitive employment have long been a challenge for individuals with disabilities. In addition to misunderstood social habits and lack of confidence, these job seekers face other barriers such as lack of transportation, bias, and more. LifeBridge Partnership may not be a vocational service provider, but the recreational and social activities that our participants experience provide great opportunities to build soft skills and confidence. These skills are critical to success in the workplace and lead to overall well-being.

The United Way of Greater St. Louis provides funding to a group of organizations, the Safety Net. This funding supports nonprofits providing direct services to individuals throughout our region. LifeBridge Partnership is proud to be one of those Safety Net partners. Another organization helping our community reach its full potential is Starkloff Institute.
