Change Your World

Nonprofits are found to bring about change. People who form nonprofits and devote their careers to a nonprofit mission are inspired to bring about positive change.  While not everyone runs out and starts a nonprofit, I think everyone sees opportunities to make the world a better place.

Of course, change and transformation are difficult. But it need not be the case.

I read a great book recently, Change Your World by John Maxwell and Rob Hoskins. The authors have devoted their careers to leadership and transformation. Their book helps the reader see the world around them in a new way, change the way he/she lives, and, as a result, bring about transformation.

Throughout the book they share stories of people who saw a problem, big or small, and did something about it. These people didn’t wait for a change to occur, they became catalysts for change. They took their ideas, put them into action, and influenced others to walk along with them to bring about a positive change.

The individuals in the stories probably didn’t have a specific formula they followed, but John and Rob saw a model emerge. The purpose of the book is to share the model of transformational change that they saw work, thousands of times over many years. As they state in their book “It looks like this:

  • Phase 1 – I want to make a difference

  • Phase 2 – With people who want to make a difference

  • Phase 3 – Living values that make a difference

  • Phase 4 – Taking actions that make a difference

Transformation

Your World Changes”

You will have to read the book for all the details. Whether you are seeking to bring about a positive change or need inspiration to reboot a project, it’s a great read.
